Prof Shirley Zinn is the former Human Resources Director of Standard Bank South Africa and Deputy Global Head of Human Resources for the Standard Bank Group and has since registered her own company: Shirley Zinn Consulting that provides consulting and advisory services in HR, Transformation, Leadership and Education.

She is currently the Chairman of DHL, and a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of AdvTech, Tuesday Consulting, Business Engage, and the Boston Consulting Group. She is a Trustee on the DHL Foundation, the Nedbank Eyethu Community Trust, the Orbis Africa, and the Chairman of Starfish Greathearts Foundation. She also serves on the Advisory Boards of Monash, African Society for Talent Development, and the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. She is the Vice-President for the Harvard Alumni Association South Africa.


Stafford Masie

Founder of Thumbzup and former Country Manager for Google South Africa

Stafford has been in the IT industry for more than 20 years and has assumed numerous game changing international roles throughout his career.  Through the early 90’s he worked for Telkom post his return from Israel where he lived for several years. He went on to join Dimension Data before going on to launch his first startup; a team of integrators focusing on software development services. Thereafter Stafford joined Novell South Africa and 9 months later moved to their corporate headquarters in Provo, Utah, USA.

He spent over 7 years in the USA where he played a significant role in the global open source software arena and he has been responsible for international partnerships and corporate technology strategy for numerous international territories including: Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela), the Middle East, sub-Saharan Africa and Southern Europe. He returned to South Africa in 2004.

Stafford was country manager for Novell South Africa and a few years later developed and launched Google’s South Africa initial local presence. Nationally recognised as a serial entrepreneur and internationally recognised business strategy consultant, he is involved in several leading-edge technology start-ups and blue chip company strategy alignment and regeneration initiatives.

Stafford is often a special guest on leading tv and radio shows where he provides his insights and views on technology related matters and significant events. He can also be found presenting keynotes whilst doing keynote presentations as a technology futurist. Stafford is also a non-exec board member of Advtech.

He recently launched and unveiled a partnership with ABSA to distribute a newly invented, world first, mechanism and innovations around payment acceptance. Stafford launched the Absa Payment Pebble and now the Absa Payment Handset. Africa’s largest and most successful mobile point of sale offering. Also launched it in Australia with ANZ bank and about to launch in several far east geographies. Expecting to go live in the USA and Latin America in the coming months.
