Marius Meyer

CEO, SA Board for People Practices (SABPP),

Marius Meyer is CEO of the SA Board for People Practices (SABPP), the professional body for HR practitioners and statutory Education and Training Quality Assurance Body for HR in South Africa. He is responsible for the quality assurance of 61 learning providers, as well as the HR accreditation of all universities in South Africa. Marius facilitated training and consulting interventions for more than a 100 companies. Previously Marius lectured in HRD at the University of South Africa and University of Johannesburg and he is still involved in academic work for North-West University and Stellenbosch University. He has been an HRD practitioner, consultant, academic and manager for the last 20 years. Marius is registered as a Master HR Professional and Mentor with SABPP. He is an advisory board member of the African Society for Talent Development. Marius is a regular speaker at local and international conferences and author of 22 books and 150 articles. He has a passion for leadership, strategy, governance, change management and people development. The latest output of his team is the National HR Competency Model, as well as a full set of national HR standards, the first set of national HR standards in the world. His latest books are on HR Standards, HR Competencies and HR Risk Management to be published in June 2015. As an anti-crime activist he is also a founding member of the fourth largest community policing forum in South Africa, in Roodekrans to the west of Johannesburg.

She has several years experience at Standard Bank where she was, until recently, Head of Human Resources. She enjoys a reputation for her ability to understand complex markets and deliver pragmatic solutions which add real value to her clients

Elizabeth has held top executive positions in a number of financial services organisations and worked in Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Shirley Zinn

Founder, Shirley Zinn Consulting, Former Human Resources Director, Standard Bank

Prof Shirley Zinn is the former Human Resources Director of Standard Bank South Africa and the Deputy Global Head of Human Resources for the Standard Bank Group and has since registered her own company: Shirley Zinn Consulting that provides consulting and advisory services in HR, Leadership, Transformation and Education.

Prior to this she was the Group Executive HR at Nedbank. Before this, she was the General Manager for Human Resources at the South African Revenue Service (SARS). She is also currently an Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria’s Department of Human Resource Management and is the Past President of the Institute for People Management South Africa.





Grant Wilkinson

Executive Member, Global Business Solutions

Grant is a versatile individual whose career has been moulded in the hotbed of the Eastern Cape. Grant is a hardworking, dedicated individual whose eye for detail has made him a contracts specialist. Grant belies the old saying of “Jack of all Trades and Master of None” and has utilised his commercial law and psychology backgrounds to good effect in his roles as manager, attorney and facilitator. In more recent times Grant has been fortunate enough to be asked to be a contributory author in a multinational book on Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace and has designed and implemented the Labour Audit process. Grant is also the anchor facilitator and Institute Liaison for our Diploma in Labour Law.

Grant has been the CAPES and business representative at the Department of Labour’s roadshow for the past two years

Grant will be participating on an interactive panel discussion at the Careers 24, The Future of HR Summit which will focus primarily on Strategic Human Resource Management, analysing internal and external factors to model innovative and sustainable business practices.

He is the Global leader of Organisation Design for the Human Capital practice and is leading our organisation design methodology and global capability development. Trevor has directed projects related to HR strategy, process and technology; strategic organisational change, and large scale organisational redesign.





Nhlamu Dlomu

Executive Director, KPMG

Nhlamu Dlomu, a Partner in KPMG is the Executive Director, responsible for leading the People Business Unit. She also sits on POLCO (the Policy Committee) and EXCO (Executive Committee). Nhlamu has extensive experience in management consulting, organisational development and human resources gained across various industry sectors. As a former HR: Executive for Organisational Development for one of the largest banks in South Africa, Nhlamu’s experience spans culture transformations; designing, developing and leading large-scale leadership; and team and organisational effectiveness programmes.





Darryl Thwaits

CIO, Tiger Brands

Darryl Thwaits has been with Tiger Brands since 1994 in a number of executive roles, including supply chain, logistics, finance and IT. He has held his current role as group CIO since 2004. Prior to joining Tiger Brands, Thwaits spent 12 years as the MD of the St. Thomas Group, Natal, the largest executive placement agency in Durban, and was the financial director for Tongaat Foods for the six years preceding this.

Thwaits is a chartered accountant and obtained his MBA from the Herriot-Watt University in Scotland. He has chaired the KwaZulu- Natal Society of Chartered Accountants, the Institute of Directors in Durban and the Association of Personnel Selection Organisations, also in Durban.





Marc Privett

Marc is the General Manager of Careers 24, with a focus on building and operationalising online businesses. He has over 14 years local and international digital marketing, operational management and product management experience with a focus on maximising revenue and market share.

In his current role at Marc has transformed the business into the industry leader and has been tasked with expanding the business into other African regions.

His areas of expertise include planning and execution marketing and brand strategies, specifically within digital and e-commerce environments with core strengths in customer acquisition, conversion and retention through digital channels.

Marc deals specifically with digital product management and ownership, including project management of the product development cycle.

He has worked with large consumer brands in South Africa and in the United Kingdom from a wide spectrum of businesses including those in online recruitment, social gaming, online gaming and local search.





Brendon Gass

HR Director, Smart HR

Brendon has a deep understanding and insight into HR and talent management software. His passion is how software solutions and employee data can be used to improve enterprise productivity and people management. Brendon trained as an engineer and started his career in research and development working with data collection, database design and data management. He later progressed to engineering project management before moving into HR and talent management solutions ten years ago. He has spent the past eight of those years as CEO of Absalom Systems, a prominent HR software and consulting firm. Brendon has extensive experience including people development, business consulting and software solutions.





Shelagh Goodwin

Shelagh Goodwin is an industrial psychologist who started her career with the Naspers group as an HR generalist more than 20 years ago. Most of her career with Naspers has been at Media24, the leading publisher and distributor of newspapers, magazines, digital content and books in Africa. She has managed the HR function for various parts of the business, run leadership development and succession planning for the group and was appointed as Media24’s first talent manager in 2006. Nene Molefi

Nene Molefi is the Owner and Managing Director of Mandate Molefi Human Resources Consultants, a well-established company with a track record that spans over 14 years in the field of Change and Transformation.
Nene’s interest in the field of Change and Transformation began when she worked for South Africa’s biggest Electricity Corporation; Eskom for a period of 10 years. Eskom, being the trend setter in change processes provided Nene with an opportunity for great exposure both within SA and abroad.

While at Eskom, her active involvement in the country debates on Change and Transformation led to her secondment to the Department of Labour to head the Human Resources Directorate. This was during the time when South Africa was developing legislation aimed at transforming the labour market. Nene was involved in the department during the development of South Africa’s Employment Equity Act which sought to establish equality within SA organisations. She later took up the position of Executive Director: Transformation for the City of Cape Town where her role was to oversee the amalgamation and rationalisation of various municipalities into one and to ensure an inclusive culture for all.




Matimba Mbungela

Matimba has an all-encompassing HR back ground spanning across many industries. This includes Department of Agriculture & Forestry, Mondi, Unilever, BMW SA and in 2004 he joined Vodacom as the Group Executive for Talent, Learning and Development.

Matimba’s wealth of knowledge and passion for people development resulted in him designing the Vodacom L&D framework, the Talent Management framework as well as the HR IT systems. He was also responsible for the design and execution of the group’s Employee Relations framework, Employee Wellbeing and Occupational Health.

Matimba is well known in the HR community and as such is a respected and sought after public speaker. Some of his speaking engagements have included Gauteng Talent Summit, 32nd Annual ACSG Conference in Stellenbosch, 2nd Talent Conference, LRG’s HR Directors Conference, South African Youth Development Conference (UK), Brand South Africa’s Ekhaya cocktail dinner (UK) and the Innova BRICS & Beyond (UK)

His career at Vodacom allowed him to travel to the UK where he took up a 3 year assignment with Vodafone as firstly the Regional Head of Talent: Africa, Middle East & Asia Pacific and then the Regional Head of Organisational Effectiveness & Change: Africa, Middle East & Asia Pacific. Matimba then returned to Vodacom and assumed the position of ME: HR for Vodacom SA. In April 2014 he was promoted to Chief HR Officer for Vodacom Group.
